Amyndeon (Amindeo) is a wine region (appellation controlled area) in north west Greece in the province of Macedonia. It has in recent years seen several ambitious wine growers and wine makers sprout. The main city is Aghios Panteleimon on the shore of lake Vegoritis. It is mostly flat land, sandy soil with a subsoil of limestone. It is surrounded by Kaimaktsalan and Vitsi mountains. It is basically a high altitude area with, for Greece, a cool climate. Notable producers are Alpha Wine Estate, Kir-Yianni, Amyntaion Cooperative, and some others.
