Domaine Weinbach is a famous wine estate in Alsace run by three women, Colette Faller and her two daughters Catherine and Laurence. The domain is often also called Domaine Faller (or Domaine Colette Faller et ses filles) and sometimes also Clos des Capucines after their most famous vineyard. The wine estate is situated in Kaysersberg, just north of Colmar in Alsace. The domaine has 28 hectares in total.
Since 1998 the vineyards of Domaine Weinbach are cultivated organically and since 2005, using biodynamic principles. In 2010 the wine estate will obtain the biodynamic certification Demeter.
The Domaine Weinbach wine cellar is in the middle of the vineyards just below Kaysersberg. It is both modern and traditional: latest technology with stainless steel vats mix with traditional large wooden vats. Some of the wines are also aged in small oak barrique barrels.
Some famous wines from the Faller family include Riesling Cuvee Theo from Clos des Capucines, Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg, Riesling Cuvee Saint Catherine and Pinot Gris Cuvee Laurence. They have vineyards in three Alsace Grand Cru: Schlossberg, Mambourg and Furstentum.
